Friday, I took a personal day off from school to take a class with Karen McTavish! It was a wholecloth design class. She described how to do the color trapunto work that is one of her hallmarks, but that was a separate class. Here is my creation... The next step, obviously, is quilting it. I have never done feathers on my longarm, so I may have to do a practice piece...and watch the McTavishing video multiple times! She says she holds a ruler (or Gam Guide Jr) against the hopping foot and uses that to guide her quilting. Sounds like an interesting technique for control.
